  • I don’t dive at the depth of 200 m/656 ft. do I still benefit from using the Paralenz Dive Camera?

You can use the Paralenz Dive Camera at shallower depths with no problem. You still benefit from the streamlined interface, pressure controlled auto-white balance, Snap Recordings etc.

  • Can the camera record above water?

Yes, the camera is also designed to be used above water. An action camera can never get too tough!

  • Do I need extra casing?

No, the camera is waterproof out of the box. No need to fumble with an extra casing. Last updated:

  • Does it work on MAC and PC?

Yes, it will work on MAC and PC.

  • Will there be an Paralenz app?

Yes the Paralenz app will work on iOS and Android platforms.

  • Can you swap the battery?

No (but it has up to 2 hours recording time) and is padded with Thermo foam preventing battery drainage at low temperatures.

  • Will it be possible to attach light?

Not yet. The Paralenz light attachment is on the drawing board (among many other accessories).

  • Which accessories can I use?

At the moment we have a Mask Mount, an Universal Mount and a 3rd Person Mount. The Universal Mount allows for GoPro accessories to be used.

  • How do I charge the battery?

The Paralenz Dive Camera comes with a Micro USB cable for charging.

  • What’s in the box?

It depends on your chosen reward. Read the reward descriptions carefully.

  • What is the difference between a normal action camera and Paralenz Dive Camera?

The Paralenz Dive camera is designed to be operated with diving equipment underwater. Furthermore, the pressure controlled auto white balance is only necessary when underwater.

  • Can the camera’s software be updated?

Yes, we will announce firmware and software updates on www.paralenz.com when updates are available.

  • What parts of my camera need maintenance?

Clean the camera in fresh water (as you do with your other diving equipment). For good measure, clean the O-rings and coat them lightly with silicone grease (do not use spray lubricant or petroleum based grease).

  • How do I prevent the camera from flooding?

The Paralenz Dive Camera has double O-rings and is tested to 200 m/656 ft., so as long as you maintain and don’t open it below water you are fine.

  • Is it possible to clean the swithes?

Yes the magnetic swithes are designed so that you can easily remove them and put them back on again.

  • Can I change the recording settings?

Yes, through the Paralenz app that we are currently developing (for both iOS and Android).

  • Can I mount the camera on my GoPro mounts?

Yes, through the Universal Mount that comes with your Paralenz Dive Camera.

  • What is pressure controlled auto white balance?

When diving underwater colors disappear the further down you go. A pressure sensor in the camera enables the camera to correct the recorded videos and pictures according to the depth.

  • What is the camera’s Field of View (FOV)?

155 degrees. Furthermore, the camera uses Lens Distortion Correction so the “fisheye effect” is corrected.

  • Is there no color filter for the camera?

There will be no need for a red or pink filter as the Paralenz software will compensate for the lack of color in the recordings. A pressure sensor installed in the camera gives feedback on the depth and the white balance is adjusted accordingly.

  • Does the camera record in 4K?

Yes, and you will be able to choose between several video modes in the Paralenz app. For instance, 4K at 60 FPS, 1080p at 120 FPS (slow-mo).

  • What is the T-rail mount?

The Paralenz T-rail Mount are the rails seen along the camera’s sides (shaped as a T - hence the name T-rail). These mounts allow for all sorts of accessories to be mounted on the camera. Lights, filters, handles and so on.

  • Is a SD card included in the rewards?

No, you will need to buy your own. The camera supports up to 64 GB Micro SD card.

  • How does the camera communicate with my smartphone? Does the camera support Bluetooth technology?

The camera uses the newest Bluetooth technology called Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy).

  • Which data does the Dive Log Data function provide?

The dive log data can be displayed as a video overlay on your footage but can also be turned off in the Paralenz App. Additionally the data will be available in simple text format, thus, you will be able to import it into i.e. a spread sheet file.

  • Does the camera support loop recording?

Yes.

  • What is the retail price?

The expected retail price will be US$599.

  • How can I get spare parts?

  • Does the Paralenz Dive Camera come with a warranty?

Yes, we repair or replace a defect camera at no cost for up to a year from product delivery

  • What if the lens gets scratched? It is possible to change the lens.

Yes it will be possible to change the lens with a new one.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
